Landlord - Tenant law is very technical.  Residential properties are governed by the Residential Landlord Tenant Act.  The RLTA governs many aspects of the relationship including the condition of the property, what type of safety equipment is required, the process that a landlord has to go through to enter the dwelling, and how much time is required for proper notification of an eviction.  While many people navigate these complex laws without a lawyer, an attorney is advisable in many circumstances.  Attorney Ted Sumner has experience in residential landlord tenant law.  The following articles help give guidance when an attorney is appropriate.

Tenant's Rights: When to Hire a Lawyer. This article states you should check for a fee provision in your contract. The RLTA has an attorney fee shifting provision in it so it doesn't need to be in the contract in Oregon.
