Theodore (Ted) Sumner, Lawyer Ted
Sumner is the founder of Sumner Law in Beaverton, Oregon. Ted has been
a lawyer in Oregon since 2000 and Washington since 2005. He is also
admitted to the United States Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims, the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, the United States District Court for the District of Oregon, the United States District Court for the Western District of Washington and to appear before the Veterans Administration at both the Regional Office and Board of Veterans Appeals.
Plaintiff's Lawyer
Ted's career as a lawyer has prepared him to represent clients in a variety of different pursuits. Ted started his career with
Rosenthal & Greene, a prestigious plaintiff oriented law firm. He
pursued highly contentious, large claims focusing on personal injury,
car accidents, civil rights, medical malpractice, legal negligence, and
a variety of other cases.
Personal Injury Defense Lawyer
After Rosenthal & Greene, Ted moved to the defense side with
Gary Abbott in Abbott & Prange. Abbott & Prange became Abbott
& Paris. Ted was again exposed to a wide variety of claims, but this
time from the defense side. Those claims included herbicide exposure,
premises liability, car accidents, accounting malpractice, defense of
corporate board members against oppression claims, defending piercing
the corporate veil claims, defending accountants in front of the Board
of Accountancy, and other claims. This firm was primarily an insurance
defense firm, which put Ted in close contact with insurance companies and adjusters.
Ted
then moved to Scheer & Zehnder, a Seattle based construction defect
firm. He opened the Portland branch office. He focused on construction
defect claims while there, representing general contractors.
After
Scheer & Zehnder, Ted moved to The Rickles Law Firm, also an
insurance defense firm. His cases included premises liability,
construction defect, and employment claims.
